PM to give national awards to micro, small and medium units

New Delhi, Aug 29 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will give away the national awards to successful Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and banks at a function here tomorrow.

Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Mahabir Prasad will preside over the function.

The national awardees include successful entrepreneurs in the MSME sector, khadi and village industries and coir sector under different categories.

Besides there are special awards for women, SC/ST and entrepreneurs from the northeastern region, consisting of Rs one lakh in cash, a certificate and a trophy. The second national awards consist of a cash prize of Rs 75,000 and the third of Rs 50,000 besides a certificate and a trophy, an official release here said.

Awards also will be given to those banks that have excelled in lending to the MSME sector.
