Mizoram schools rally against Orissa violence

Aizawl, Aug 29(UNI) All the church-run schools here were today closed disrupting life in Mizoram to protest violence against the christians in Orissa.

Braving rains, thousands of students and teachers of private schools run by different Christian denominations staged a rally from different points and converged at the Assam Rifles ground in the heart of the city.

This was an outcome of a meeting of Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute (church leaders) Committee on Thursday afternoon.

The MKHC or the church leaders committee have condemned frequent attacks on "innocent" christians in a secular country of India.

The MKHC also called for a prayer meeting and fasting by all church members in Mizoram on September 7 and to collect relief funds for the Orissa violence victims.
