Microchip Technology Inc expands India Development Centre
Bangalore, Aug 29 (UNI) Microchip Technology Inc the leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, today announced a 65 million dollar investment plan for India over the next five years for expanding its India Development Centre in the city.
The full-fledged development centre of the chip maker, which works on integrated-circuit development and marketing, microcontroller development tools and corporate information system, was today inaugurated at the Whitefield Export Promotion Industrial park on the outskirts of the city.
Briefing newspersons on the company's plans in India, Ganesh Moorthy, Executive said, as part of the investment, Microchip is expected to create 300 new jobs at its new wholly-owned facility.
''Our IDC is a state-of-the-art facility that plays an important role in the development of world-leading 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers and digital signal controllers,'' he said.
The centre has already delivered many technology innovations, including work on the PIC18 and PIC24 microcontroller and dsPIC digital signal controller designs, as well as digital-power and motor control solutions.
The global leader in semiconductors headquartered at Chandler in Arizona, employing nearly 49,000 people, has 200 highly skilled engineers working in its IDC now and with be increased by another 300 in a phased manner, he added.
