Kuala Lumpur, Aug 29 : Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has reportedly set up a new cabinet sub-committee to champion the commercial interests of the Indian community.

The committee will build a bridge with the Cabinet Committee on Indian Welfare.

"It pleases me to announce the establishment of the Economic and Business Interface Group (EBIG), which will serve as the platform from which views from the Malaysian Indian business and commercial community can be channeled directly to the Cabinet Committee on Indian Welfare," nstonline quoted Najib as saying at the Malaysian Associated Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) last night.

Najib said EBIG, chaired by MAICCI president Datuk K.K. Eswaran, would give feedback on government decisions that were seen to be unfair to Indians.
