Jammu writers demand ban of 'Kashir' Channel
Jammu, Aug 29 (UNI) The writers and artists of Jammu demanded an immediate ban of 'Kashir' channel here alleging that it had deviated from the principles of secularism and communal harmony and is not covering the religious aspirations of the people of Jammu.
''Instead of propagating the teachings of all religions, it telecasts only the programmes of a particular religion,'' Sudhir Jamwal, president Writers and Artists Association Jammu said adding, ''No programme related to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Bahu Fort, Shankaracharya and Muslim Shrines of Jammu have been added in its programmes, thus neglecting the secularism and harmony of the Jammu region.'' However, hundreds of writers and artists also took out a mass procession last evening and submitted a memorandum to President Pratibha Patil through Divisional Commissioner, Jammu demanding ban on 'Kashir' Channel in Jammu.
