Goa Catholic institutions observe closure
Panaji, Aug 29(UNI) Protesting the recent atrocities on Christian community and other innocent people in Orissa, all the Catholic institutions belonging to Archdiocesan Board of Education, Goa, alongwith Catholic institutions in rest of the country, remained closed today.
The closure was in solidarity with the victims of atrocities, according to vice-president of the Board C D Abreau here. The Board is a federation of all the Catholic educational societies in the State, including the Diocesan Society of Education.
It may be recalled that Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Swami Laxmananand Sarswati and five others were killed on July 25 in Kandhamal district of Orissa, following which Christians were killed and their houses and churches were burnt.
