Foreign postage rates to be revised from Sept 1
Chandigarh, Aug 29 (UNI) The Department of Post has revised the foreign surface postage rates of letter post items from September 1 next, according to an official information here today.
As per the revised rates, letters upto 20 grams for all the countries would cost Rs 20 whereas for every additional 20 grams or part thereof upto 500 grams would cost additional Rs 8. Beyond 500 grams for every additional 100 grams or part thereof upto 2000 grams would cost Rs 30.
Small packets upto 100 grams for all the countries would cost Rs 40 whereas every additional 100 grams or part thereof upto 2000 grams would cost additional Rs 30.
Mail of printed papers upto 20 grams for all the countries would cost Rs 10 whereas for every additional 20 grams or part thereof upto 500 grams would cost additional Rs five. Beyond 500 grams printed mail for additional 100 grams or part thereof upto 2000 grams would cost additional Rs 20.
The post card (single) to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan would cost Rs 4 whereas post card to Asian Pacific Postal Union countries, except above-mentioned countries, would cost Rs 6. Post Cards to Universal Postal Union countries would cost Rs 7.
The Bulk Bag mail not exceeding 5 kg. would cost Rs 350 for all the countries and exceeding 5 kg would cost additional Rs 100 per kg.The mail in form of Blind Literature packets for all the countries is exempted from the postage.
For the postal articles to be sent by the Surface Air Lifted (SAL) mail, the surcharge of Rs 4 for 20 grams or part thereof for all countries other than SAARC countries will be charged in addition to normal surface mail rates.
The rates of postage and airmail fees specified will be chargeable on postal articles posted in an Indian Post Office for transmission by air routes, to the different countries and the places as per schedule and as per the mode of transmission is available.
