Farmer commits suicide due to financial problem

Hubli, Aug, 29 (UNI) A 37-year-old farmer committed suicide in Kalas village of Savanur taluka in Haveri district in the early hours today.

Police said the deceased was identified as Shankarappa Kyalakonda. He was survived by wife and a child.

He allegedly consumed poison and died at about 0200 hrs, as he had taken loans from various banks to the tune of Rs One lakh.

During the recent downpour, he incurred a huge loss, as his crops were washed away.

Meanwhile he also received a bank notice for repayment of the loan. Scared after receiving the notice, he allegedly committed suicide, police added.
