Church-run schools remain shut in Kolkata for Orissa incident
Kolkata, Aug 29 (UNI) All church-run schools remained closed and members of the community took out processions in the city today demanding protection in Orissa.
Holding placards, Christians, under the banner of Bangiya Christiya Parishad, took out the main procession near Utkal Bhavan in Central Kolkata, demanding deployment of military and para-military forces at Kandhamal and Bargarh districts where about ten members of the community had been killed in violence.
'' CM, answer why Christians are being persecuted in Orissa, '' the placards said.
The protesters submitted a memorandum to the Resident Commissioner of Utkal Bhavan, addressing Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Governor and Chairman of National Human Rights Commission.
