Christians in Punjab join nationwide protests
Chandigarh, Aug 29 (UNI) Catholic institutions, including convent schools, in the state remained closed today to protest the communal violence and express solidarity with Christian victims.
Father Joy of Catholic Centre today said more than one lakh Christians of the state would join nation-wide stir and observe one-day fast on September 7 to protest the killings of innocent Christians by fundamentalists in Orissa.
While talking to newsmen in Phagwara, he said prayers meetings would be organised for the peace of the departed souls on September 7.
The leaders were demanding adequate security for the Christians and complete ban on fundamentalist organisations behind the recent attacks upon the community.
