AP CM allays Christian associations fear
Hyderabad, Aug 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today allayed fears of the Christian Associations in the State about the attack on the Christian missionaries.
Dr Reddy convened a meeting of Ministers and police officials to discuss the issue. He had instructed the DGP and other police officials to thwart any attempt on Christian missionaries. The Chief Minister directed the DGP to take stringent action against vested interests, if they indulged in crime, a release said here.
The police officials explained to the Chief Minister about the cases relating to attack on Christian missionaries from 2005 till now and steps initiated to book the bullies.
The Chief Minister said the Government was closely monitoring the situation and will stop untoward incidents in the State.
Dr Reddy asked the Home Minister to convene a meeting of all Christian Associations soon to discuss the issue, hear their views and to reassure them about the Government's determination to put down nefarious designs of the wrong-doers.
The Christian missionaries need not get agitated over the issue, he added.
