Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangaswamy resigns
Puducherry Aug 28 : Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangaswamy resigned on Thursday, following a revolt by his cabinet colleagues against his leadership.
Rangasamy tendered his resignation to Lieutenant Governor Govind Singh Gurjar at the Raj Nivas apparently on the directions from the Congress High Command.
After accepting his resignation, the Governor said that he would forward the resignation letter to President Pratibha Patil for acceptance and asked Rangaswamy to continue as caretaker Chief Minister until alternative arrangements are made.
Rangasamy was asked by the Congress High Command to step down as Chief Minister after he failed to muster majority among the party MLAs at the CLP meeting on Monday.
