PM asks Patnaik to contain violence in Orissa
New Delhi, Aug 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today rang Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and asked him to take immediate steps to contain the violence in the State and restore normalcy.
He also advised the Chief Minister to provide immediate relief to the affected people, particularly children, an official statement said.
A delegation of Catholic Bishops Conference of India along with Archbishop of Delhi met the Prime Minister in the day and apprised him of the recent situation in Orissa.
Dr Singh mentioned that the Centre was in touch with the State government and every effort would be made to restore normalcy in the State, the statement added.
