PM announces Rs 1000 crore relief package to Bihar
New Delhi, Aug 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced Rs 1000 crore for the rescue and relief work in Bihar and 1.25 lakh tonnes of foodgrains for the flood victims.
Dr Singh, who undertook an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Purunia and other parts of Bihar, described the situaiton as grim and called it a ''national calamity''.
He assured the State government of all possible Central help in tackling the situation.
