New CM to take oath on Sept one

Puducherry, Aug 28 (UNI) Former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, who was elected as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, is expected to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister on September one.

Born to Venkatasubbareddiyar, a former Chief Minsiter, and Lakshmikantham at Madukarai on October five, 1950, the 58-year-old Vaithilingam had his school and college studies in Cuddalore.

Mr Vaithilingam, a B Com graduate, held several posts, including President of the Regulatory Marketing Committee, Director of Cooperative Union and the Member of the Territorial Assembly in the seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th Assemblies.

He was the PWD Minister in the seventh Assembly, Chief Minister in the ninth Assembly, leader of the Opposition in the 10th Assembly and Agriculture Minister in the 12th Assembly.
