Meeting to elect new CLP leader inconclusive

Puducherry, Aug 28 (UNI) The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting held here today to elect the new CLP leader following the resignation of Chief Minister N Rangasamy remained inconclusive and would continue at 1530 hrs after lunch break.

Mr K B Krishnamurthy, AICC secretary incharge of Puducherry affairs and Central Observer for the CLP meeting told newspersons that all the legislators barring Speaker R Radhakrishnan attended the meeting.

Mr Rangasamy also attended the meeting and later left, he said, adding, that they had discussion on the election of a new CLP leader which was still inconclusive.

However, it was reliably learnt that Mr V Vaithilingam was elected as the new CLP leader and waiting for the auspicious time for the formal announcement.
