Karnataka opposes Tribunal for Kalasa, Bhanduri
Bangalore, Aug 28 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today opposed the Centre's move to appoint a Tribunal for solving Kalasa and Bhandury canal project taken up by the State Government to provide drinking water to Hubli and Dharwad cities.
In a letter to Union Minister for Water Resources Shafiyuddin Soj Mr Yeddyurappa said '' since the matter is in the Supreme Court, it is not possible to appoint a Tribunal to solve the problem'', a press release from the CM's Secretariat here.
Stating that the Centre had accorded "in principle approval" for the project in 2002, Mr Yeddyurappa urged the Centre to sanction the projects since it was meant for providing drinking water.
