Haryana, Rajasthan sign Inter-state Road Transport pact
Chandigarh, Aug 28 (UNI) Haryana and Rajasthan today signed the Inter-state Road Transport agreement after a gap of 11 years.
Haryana Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Transport) Samir Mathur and Rajasthan Principal Secretary (Transport) S N Thanvi signed the agreement on behalf of their governments at New Delhi.
Mr Mathur said the number of routes on which the buses of Rajasthan and Haryana Transport would ply as per the agreement signed today would increase to 315.
Besides, on 89 routes the buses of Rajasthan private operators and Haryana Roadways would ply and the total number of 404 routes were going to be in operation. He said the distance covered by the Haryana Roadways in Rajasthan would now be 1,23,446 kms per day as compared to 6,28,73 km per day in the last agreement of 1997.
The operation of Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation and private operators in Haryana would now be 133876 km per day as compared to 67,599 km per day under the last agreement. He said with the signing of this agreement the commuters would have more transport facilities for visiting the other state for business, religious and tourism purposes.
The bus services of Haryana Transport had been increased for visiting the religious places like Naukha, Salasar, Pokhran and Khajuwala of Rajasthan, he added.
