BJP decline comment on Pope's deploration of Orissa violence
New Delhi, Aug 28 (UNI) Refusing to comment on Pope's condemnation of violence on Churches and Christians in Orissa following the killing of Swami Laxmananand Saraswati, the BJP today said no such condemnations were coming forward when the Hindu seer was attacked by Christian supporters four months ago.
BJP spokesman Ravishankar Prasad said the BJP condemned the violence and was asking the Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to unearth the murderers of Swami whose life was at stake because he stood firmly between conversion of tribals.
The party appealed for peace in the state and said that all the miscreants must be brought to the book.
When he was asked about the reports suggesting the demand of the BJP MLAs to pull out of the coalition and extend outside support to the BJD government, Mr Prasad said party's National Secretary Vinay Katiyar was in the state to address the grievances of party MLAs.
