Tripura's remote school bags award for computer literacy
Agartala, Aug 27 (UNI) The Centre has selected a remote school in Tripura to confer Excellence in Computer Literacy and Information Technology Award at New Delhi tomorrow, along with 55 other schools in India, of which 25 are private.
Official sources here today said the Jawhar Navodaya Vidyalaya in North Tripura, 82 miles from here, was selected for the award by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology like in the previous years to generate IT awareness among schools and encourage computer literacy among students.
Altogether, 11 school, in the northeastern states would receive a Trophy and Cash Award of Rs 1.50 lakh in recognition of their excellent performance in IT education, sources said.
The award was based on the performance of bags schools in the aspects of information and communication technology (ICT) like infrastructure, usage practices, curricula and content development, teacher training, classroom transaction and student learning, innovation and community work.
Of the 55 schools shortlisted for the award, each of the three from government and private schools would be conferred a cas prize of Rs seven lakh, Rs five lakh and Rs three lakh resepectively, while the best would bag Rs ten lakh as all India winner.
