Stern action against corporation official: Minister
Panaji, Aug 27 (UNI) Urban development minister Joaquim Alemao assured the state legislative assembly today that he would initiate action against any officer of the city municipal corporation, involved in printing of fake stationery material, including bills and receipts.
The minister gave this assurance while replying to a question of Dayanand Sopte on a scam related to unauthorised collection of parking fee in the city limits and involvement of a city corporator, who had since been arrested recently.
The minister told the house that he would initiate deterrent action after the completion of the police investigation into the scam.
Admitting that the indulgence of an ''inside officer'' of the corporation as pointed out by the opposition leader Manohar Parrikar was ''more serious'', he said the matter would be investigated.
Mr Parrikar sought stern action against the concerned insider who was suspected to have been engaged in printing of duplicate stationery or using stolen stationery including revenue receipts and traffic challan books, causing loss of huge revenue to the exchequer.
