Road block stir hits vehicular traffic in TN

Perambalur, Aug 27: Vehicular traffic on the busy Tiruchirapalli-Chennai National highway came to a standstill for about an hour as some residents of Thoramangalam blocked the road at Thoramangalam near here today in protest against the lethargic attitude of the authorities for not clearing the sewerage system in their area.

The protesters said due to the clogging of the drain, water were entering their houses following rains. They also demanded that the authorities provide way for free movement from their residences to other places in view of the road over bridge being constructed as part of the ongoing six laning project of the national highway in that area.

On information, officials rushed to the spot, persuaded them and restored normalcy.
