PM Dahal's China visit successful: Nepali embassy
Kathmandu, Aug 27 (UNI) Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's China visit has strengthened the relations between the Himalayan Republic and her northern neighbour, according to the Nepali Embassy in Beijing.
The bilateral relations with China is believed to be extending further, as Prime Minister Dahal discussed the Chinese support to Nepal in various sectors, including economic and technical in meetings with his Chinese counterpart and the Chinese president, Kantipur quoted Nepalese ambassador to China Tanka Karki as saying.
''Dahal's China visit has been quite an achievement. The Prime Minister was for the extension of bilateral ties, '' Karki said.
''Nepal has also hoped that China would extend more assistance to Nepal in the coming days,'' he added.
Dahal's China visit by putting off India's invitation -- that apparently was for taking part in the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics -- has been considered to be of political significance in the diplomatic circle, the paper said.
Prime Minister Dahal, on Monday, had said that his China visit proved to be crucial for the construction of a new Nepal. In a dinner organised last night at the Nepali Embassy, Dahal had expressed his hopes that China would extend more support for the construction of a new Nepal.
He had left for China on Saturday and is returning today.
This was his maiden visit to a foreign country after being elected to the post of Prime Minister two weeks ago. It was for the first time that a Nepali Prime Minister visited China before embarking on a visit to India.
