DPG constructs 822 houses for tsunami victims
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 27: The Chennai-based Development Promotion Group (DPG), a non governmental organization, has constructed 822 houses in six tsunami affected villages in Nagapattinam and Tuticorin districts, according to its CEO R Bhakther Solomon.
He told newsmen here last night most of the houses constructed at a cost of Rs 2.75 lakh each were handed over to the selected benificiaries.
The DPG had also spent Rs 4.10 crore for providing relief to the tsunami affected fishermen, including distribution of 145 boats and engines to them in Nagapattinam and Tuticorin districts.
The DPG was working for the creation of credit unions in association with National Credit Union Federation of Korea (NACUFOK), in order to help the self-help groups, he added.
