Deemed University Status For Graphic Era, Vidyapeeth Units
New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) ''Deemed-to-be-University'' status for Dehradun-based Graphic Era University was announced by the Human Resource Development Ministry today.
The status will take effect for a period of five years from the date of its disaffiliation from Uttarakhand Technical University and HNB Garhwal University, a Ministry announcement said.
The Ministry also announced decisions about four colleges in association with the Pune-based Deemed-to-be-University Bharati Vidyapeeth.
The Ministry approved ''the continuance'' of the Vidyapeeth's Sangli-based Medical College and Hospital and Navi Mumbai-based Dental College and Hospital as its ''constituent units.'' It permitted Pune-based Interactive Research School for Health Affairs and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology and Biotechnology ''to function as independent constituent units'' of the Vidyapeeth.
The Ministry said the GE University's functioning and performance would be reviewed annually by the University Grants Commission and the status subject to its recommendation after five years.
The announcement also specified conditions pertaining to courses to be offered by the four Vidyapeeth colleges and institutes.
