Customs officials among 40 held for rave party in Khandala
Lonavala, Aug 27 (UNI) A high profile rave party was raided by Pune rural police at Khandala, a popular hill station, near here, late last night.
Superintendent of Police (Pune Rural) Ravindra Kadam told UNI that acting on a specific information, a police team raided a bungalow ''peechli manzil'' and arrested around 40 revellers, including 22 Customs officials, 11 bar girls, four organisers and equal number of drivers from the party.
He said of the arrested customs officials, 12 are high-ranking officials of Superintendent level, while 10 are Inspectors from Sahar International Airport, Mumbai.
Police have seized several objects, including obscene materials, that were being circulated during the party, and mobile phones and cars.
Meanwhile, the Wadgaon Maval Judicial Magistrate today remanded all the 40 accused to 15 days judicial custody. First class Judicial Magistrate P Patange after hearing the arguments, said since police have seized their belongings there was no need for police custody.
The Judge also directed police to submit the report of investigation before September 10.
