Sugar prices down
Navi Mumbai, Aug 26 (UNI) Sugar prices further declined today amidst sustained heavy selling pressure from stockists, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association (BSMA) said.
The wholesale rates of small and medium grade sugar dropped by Rs five and Rs six per quintal respectively due to lower buying support by stockists, traders said.
In ex-mill grade small grade sugar slashed by Rs five on lack of fresh demand by bulk consumers, while medium grade sugar rose by Rs 20 per quintal on better buying support by stockists, traders added.
Following were the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,864/1,910, medium grade: Rs 1,890/1,970, Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,830/1,850 and medium grade: Rs 1,865/1,910.
