Prajarajyam: Chiranjeevi's new political party

Tirupati, Aug 26: Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi launched a new political party on Tuesday, Aug 26. Chiru named his party as Prajarajyam. He told his party is of the people, for the people, by the people. He told to the huge crowd of about ten lakh people who gathered at Tirupati that he had enterd politics to serve them, the people. My priority is for the farmers and working class.

While speaking to the people he told that he does not understand politics, but understand the sufferings of the people. "I have done all roles in Cinema. I have seen the entire world. I don't want anything more. Mother Teresa is my inspiration. I believe in her. Please bless my movement. You people are my strength and you have always blessed me.

Some excerpts of Chiru's speech is given below.

-I had just two pairs of trousers in my college.

-I survived in Madras with less than Rs 100 per month. People need a person from such background to lead them. My roles in cinema always represented weaker sections.

-I am from a very humble background. We had just 5 acres of land. My father was a police constable.

-This sound will reverberate across Andhra.

-I know the pulse beat of the Telugu people. I promise a clean and effective movement.

-Youth power is my power. Women will get more attention.

-I represent weaker sections. Today's meeting is a historic meeting.

-I am like the brother of all Andhraites. Telugu people made me what I am today.

-I don't know to how to thank you all. I will never forget your kindness.

-My mother taught me about life. I don't bother about caste, religion and class.

-My achievement will be your achievement.

-As an actor, I struggled. I am a servant of the people.

I am the servant of people. I want to restore the honour of Politics. Social Justice is the main agenda of my party. He added.

Chiranjeevi, whose real name is Konidela Siva Shankara Varaprasad, turns 53 on Aug 22. Hailing from a remote village West Godavari district in coastal Andhra, the son of an excise constable rose to the dizzy heights of stardom.

His popularity is often compared with that of NTR, who died in 1996. Chiranjeevi acted in about 150 films during his 30-year-old film career. He was virtually ruling the film industry for last decade.

One of the highest paid actors in India, he was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 2006 for his contributions to Telugu cinema and his social services.
