Notices issued against Kolhapur, Nagpur jail superintendents
Mumbai, Aug 26 (UNI) The City Civil Court today issued show cause notices against the superintendent of Kolhapur and Nagpur jails following their failure to produce Mumbai train blasts of 2006 accused and Arungabad Arms seizure accused before the Principal Session court as directed by the High Court.
Principal Session Judge A Nalwade was supposed to record the statement on a complaint by the accused alleging that they were beaten up by the staff of Arthur Road Jail while shifting them from the jail.
Acting on the complaint, a division bench of the Bombay high court had earlier directed the Principal Session judge to probe into the matter and record the statement of the accused in the chamber.
Judge Nalwade, in his order, said that if the reply of the jail authorities was not satisfactory, he will pray to the High Court to issue contempt proceedings against the erring officers.
The accused, who were allegedly beaten up, are lodged at Kolhapur and Nagpur jails.
