Kerala gets additional sugar allocation for Onam
New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) The Centre today announced an additional allocation of 3500 tonnes of sugar to Kerala for the Onam festival next month.
An official release said here that this was in addition to the state's regular annual festival sugar quota of 3,600 tonnes.
Thus, Kerala will get a total allocation of 7100 tonnes of sugar for the Onam festival.
The Centre had also made an additional allocation of 1000 tonnes of sugar to Tripura for Durga Puja, according to official sources.
This was in addition to state's regular festival quota of 302 tonnes which had already been released. The total allocation of sugar to Tripura for Durga Puja festival has reached at 1302 tonnes.
