Historical monument collapses, kills 2
Bijapur, Karnataka, Aug 26 (UNI) Following heavy rainfall that lashed the city last night, the 500-year-old 'Ambarkhana,' a historical monument, collapsed killing two persons.
Police said Ashok Sidramappa Dhotaragavi (42) and his daughter Sudha (14) were killed when huge stones from the monument came rolling down. They were fast asleep in their tin shed next to the structure.
Assistant Commissioner Y S Patil and Tahasildar S S Nagathan visited the spot early this morning to take stock of the situation.
A solatium of Rs two lakh was announced by the official to the kin of the two victims.Police have registered a case.
