Congress demands Naveen's resignation.

Bhubaneswar,Aug 26 (UNI) Congress Deputy leader Narasingh Mishra today said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik must step down owning moral responsibility for the collapse of law and order in the state during last couple of days.

Initiating a motion on law and order situation in the state,Mr.Mishra alleged that the law and order situation had collapsed and there was no rule of law.

He said although Swami Laxmananda Sartaswati had informed the police about the threat to his life no action was taken to protect his life.

The Chief Minister,he said totally failed to establish the rule of law.He despite curfew a funeral procession was allowed and a top leaders of the VHP participated in it.

He alleged that a few people were trying to create Gujarat like situation in Orissa and the government was keeping mum over it.

The Chief Minister, he said was compromising with communal forces to remain in power and not taking any action against the communal forces.

His party colleague Nalini Mohanty said a total lawlessness prevailed in the state and demanded that President Rule be imposed to save the lives and property of the people in view of the state sponsored terror in many parts of Orissa during yesterday's bandh He said had Biju Patnaik alive he would have resigned from the Chief Minister post owning moral responsibility.Mr.Mohanty questioned how could a Cabinet Minister visited Chakapad to attend the last rite of Swamiji defying the Curfew.
