Chhattisgarh targets 28% growth in IT collection
Bilaspur, Aug 26 (UNI) The Income Tax department of Chhattisgarh has set a target to collect income tax of Rs 2,426 crore this year, about 28 per cent higher than the actual collection of Rs 1,888 crore during 2007-08.
Bilaspur division topped in tax collection totalling Rs 1,202 crore last year and its current year's target is Rs 1,547 crore, according to Chhattisgarh's Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Kamlesh Argal.
There was several such commercial organisations in the state which showed an annual income of Rs one or Rs two lakhs despite carrying out a sales turnover of above Rs two crore per year.
Mr Argal told reporters here.
Stating that it was rare to see commercial organisations doing business at less than ten per cent profit, he said such organisations would be put under scrutiny. There is a substantial increase in the amount collected under Tax Deducted at Source (IDS), he added.
