BJP asks PM to take up flood control measures in Bihar
New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Stating that the damaged reservoir in Nepal had changed the course of Kosi river downstream in Bihar, the BJP today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to treat the flood as 'national disaster' and take all measures to tide over the crisis in consultation with the Government of Nepal.
BJP spokesman Ravishankar Prasad said the floods in Bihar was one of the worst national calamities in 200 years. He urged to take all remedial actions and press the services of Air Force and Army to hand out relief to the marooned people in the state.
The heavy inflows caused by the breach in the dam in Nepal was one of the worst and the Centre needs to tackle the issue with its counterparts in upstream country. There was a need for the Union Ministers to exercise restraint in their utterances so that the common man in Bihar does not suffer, he added.
