5 barbers held for producing false documents

Tirupati, Aug 26 (UNI) Police have arrested five barbers for producing false documents during their appointment at the tonsuring centre in the revered temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala.

According to police, vigilance wing of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) found that the barbers, including women, had produced false documents at the time of their appointment.

Of 200 candidates including women, who had a minimum educational qualification of eighth standard, had appeared for the interviews conducted by TTD for the post of barber in September last year.

As many as 42 candidates including nine women, whose documents were found fake, were removed from their service and a criminal case was registered against them, police said.

Of the 42, five male barbers were arrested, police added.
