Nepal President Ram Baran Yadav visits flood-hit areas

Kathmandu, Aug 25 : Nepal's President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav today said that the government is planning on providing separate settlements to the people displaced by the Saptakoshi River.

A team led by Dr. Yadav reached the flood-hit areas in Sunsari district.

He will seek information regarding the relief and rescue efforts being carried out in the region. He will also carry out aerial inspection of the flood-hit areas in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Sunsari District Administration Office has informed that around 35,000 people have been 'affected' by the flood resulting from the breakdown of embankments in Saptakoshi River.

Dr. Yadav will meet the displaced families in Inaruwa, local political leaders and the security personnel, the district administration said.

Dr. Yadav had reached the district with President's office secretary Ram Hari Aryal, Prime Minister's office secretary Dipendra Bikram Thapa and spokesperson of Home Ministry Mod Raj Dotel.

Earlier, Prime Minister Prachanda announced Rs 20 million-relief aid for the affected families from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. Nepalnews reported.
