Medha takes part in stir in city

Hyderabad, Aug 25 (UNI) Social activist Medha Patkar today participated in an agitation in the city, demanding scheduling of 805 non-scheduled tribal villages in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Medha, who is also convener of National Alliance of Peoples' Movements, demanded abolishment of 34 Government Orders pertaining to acquisition of 1.50 lakh acres of farm land in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam under the coastal corridor project.

Referring to the controversial Nano car project of TATA at Singur in West Bengal, she alleged that the displaced families were not given employment.

She demanded that the government return 400 acres of land acquired from farmers for the car project.
