Local court remands Nagori to police custody till Sep 3
Ahmedabad, Aug 25 (UNI) A local court today remanded Safdar Nagori, one of the key conspirators of Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts of July 26 in which 60 people were killed, to police custody till September 3.
Metropolitan Magistrate G M Patel, after hearing arguments of both sides--police and defence counsel--sent Nagori to police remand till September 3 for his alleged involvement in the Gujarat Terror plot.
Nagori was brought here last night by a team consisting of sleuths of Ahmedabad Crime Branch, the main investigating agency of the blast case, and Gujarat ATS from Madhya Pradesh on a production warrant, issued by a local court earlier.
Nagori and his brother Kamruddin had trained over 50 activists of Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), including nine activists from Gujarat who were arrested earlier by Crime Branch, for terrorist activities and Islamic Jehad in jungles of Kerala in January and near Halol-Pavagadh in Gujarat in March, earlier this year.
While seeking A 14-day remand, police said the accused were earlier in a Madhya Pradesh jail and had hatched the blast conspiracy there. Police wanted to ascertain whereabouts of their other accomplices.
