Govt to award 55 schools for promoting computer literacy
New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) Fiftyfive schools, including 30 run by government, across the country have been selected by Communication and Information Technology Ministry for excellence in computer literacy and information technology.
Each school will be given a trophy and cash award of Rs 1.50 lakh for creating IT awareness among schools and for encouraging computer literacy among students in early stage of schooling, the Ministry said in a statement today.
Of the 55 schools, three each from government and private sector will be conferred national awards carrying a cash prize of Rs 7 lakh, Rs 5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, the statement said, adding one of these will become all India winner bagging a shield and cash award of Rs 10 lakh.
All India winner and national awardees will be announced later this week, the Ministry said, adding the awards will be presented at a function on August 28.
