Four militants killed in encounter in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 25 (UNI) Security forces killed four militants in a fierce gun-battle in north Kashmir today, a Defence Ministry spokesman said.

He said troops, on a specific information launched a search operation in Gulmarg sector to flush out militants.

During the an encounter four militants were killed sofar.

The operation was still going on when reports last came in, he said.

This was the second major encounter in north Kashmir during the past one week.

In a 72-hour-long operation in Machil sector troops killed 14 militants in the woods yesterday. However, three soldiers, including a commanding officer, were also killed and four others wounded in the gun battle.
