1 dead, another badly hurt as sand lorry hits bike

Kancheepuram, Aug 25 (UNI) One person was killed and another seriously injured when the motorcycle on which they were travelling was hit by a sand lorry at Muthialpet, near here, today.

Police said Nagendran (21) was riding the two-wheeler with his relative Gopinath (22) on the pillion when the sand lorry proceeding to Wallajahbad hit them.

In the impact, Gopinath was thrown off the motorcycle and died on the spot while Nagendran was admitted to the government hospital here with serious injuries.

Police impounded the lorry. Gopinath's body was taken to the government hospital for post-mortem. A search was on for the lorry driver.
