WCL enters coal supply agreement with GSECL
Nagpur, Aug 24 (UNI) The city-based public sector coal company Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has entered into a coal supply agreement (CSA) with Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL).
As per the agreement, signed by WCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director D C Garg and GSECL Managing Director Gurdeep Singh here last week, WCL will supply 9.2 lakh tonnes per annum of coal to GSECL over the next five years, beginning September, a WCL press release said.
WCL has signed another agreement with Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) for the supply of 24.74 lakh tonnes of coal to the utility. So far, WCL has signed CSA with 178 customers as per the model agreement drafted by Coal India Limited, the release said.
The model agreement has been worked out in line with the provisions of the New Coal Distribution Policy (NCDP) of the Government of India. Under the NCDP, it is mandatory for coal companies to supply coal to all linked consuming units only through legally binding CSA, the release added.
