Threatening e-mail was sent from Khalsa College: ATS
Mumbai, Aug 24 (UNI) The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) today said the e-mail, threatening to blow up schools and religious places in the city between August 25 and August 28, was sent from the computer laboratory of Khalsa College at Matunga in north-central Mumbai.
Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS) Parambir Singh, who visited the college here, told mediapersons that the e-mail was sent from computer laboratory of the college and might have been sent via Wi-fi. ''But we are investigating the matter,'' he added.
This is the second time, when the college's name had cropped up in such an incident as earlier a girl student of the college, who resided at Mumbra in Thane district, was killed in an encounter in Gujarat.
Police had stated that she had alleged links with a terrorist outfit and was part of a group that was on its way to eliminate Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
In wake of the e-mail, security was beefed up across the city, especially at religious places and schools. Police also used video cameras at some places in today's Dahi Handi celebrations.
