Student dies in blast at hostel in UP

Lucknow, Aug 24: A student was killed and one other wounded in a blast at a private hostel in industrial city Kanpur on Sunday, Aug 24 afternoon.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kanpur, A K Singh, said the blast occurred at the hostel, rented to some Polytechnic students by retired electricity department employee S S Mishra.

He had constructed the hostel in a portion of his house.

Two students were wounded in the incident and rushed to hospital, but one succumbed on the way, the SSP added.

Another was stated critical.

Investigation was on.
