Manipur celebrates Janmashtami

Imphal, Aug 24: Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated in Manipur on Sunday, Aug 24 with great pomp and fanfare. Thousands of devotees came to the Shri Shri Govindajee temple, Imphal, to offer prayers.

Special security arrangements were made at the temple in view of the festival.

No vehicle was allowed inside the complex and all roads leading to the temple were blocked by security personnel and special parking arrangements were made.

Security personnel frisked every person who entered the temple complex.

Special security arrangements were also taken up at ISKCON temple complex, Imphal, where a bomb blast occurred two years ago during Janmashtami celebrations.

The All India Radio, Imphal, also organised special programme and broadcast the celebrations at the Govindajee temple.
