Indefinite curfew imposed in Srinagar, other major towns in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 24 (UNI) An indefinite curfew has been imposed in Srinagar and other major towns in the Kashmir valley since 0400 hrs as a precautionary measure.
An official spokesman said while some organisations have organised a political rally tomorrow in the city, some of their leaders face threat from the vested interests.
The administration received credible inputs that some of the leaders could be targetted.
As a precautionary measures, the curfew has been imposed from 0400 hrs today, he said.
He said people have been appealed to cooperate with the law enforcing agencies and help maintaining peace and order.
The Coordination Committee (CC), spearheading the present agitaion in the valley, has appealed to people for Lal Chowk Chalo tomorrow, besides given a three-day strike call from yesterday.
