HM section commander surrenders in Doda

Jammu, Aug 24 (UNI) A top militant of Hizb-ul-Mujaheedin (HM) outfit today surrendered before security forces in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.

''HM section commander identified as Ghulam Hussan alias Sohain, 26, a resident of Mazgan surrendered before 11 Rashtriya Rifles(RR) (DOGRA), 159 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) and police in Navapachchi area of the district,'' defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI.

Meanwhile, one AK rifle, one AK magazine and 20 rounds of AK ammunitions were handed over by the militant to the commanding officer of 11 RR.

The militant was active since June 2000 in the mountainous regions of Kishtwar and Doda districts, they said.
