Forward Bloc questions Amar Singh's presence in Singur
Lucknow, Aug 24 (UNI) All India Forward Bloc (AIFB), a coalition partner of the Left Front government in West Bengal, today questioned the presence of Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh in Singur.
AIFB general secretary Debabrata Biswas here said it was surprising that Mr Singh was supporting the farmers, when he himself had to face such issue at Dadri in case of the Reliance power project.
'' The presence of Mr Singh in Singur to attend a meeting of Ms Mamta Banerjee has certainly surprised the political faternity as he is known to be very close to certain industrial houses'', he said.
During the last Mulayam Singh Yadav regime in Uttar Pradesh, Mr Amar Singh as the chairman of the UP Development Council had supported the expansion of the Tata vehicle unit in the state capital and even there was a proposal from the government to give them a power plant. However, later the Tatas backed out from the power plant project, Mr Biswas added.
He further demanded that the Singur issue should be sorted through tripartite talks between WB government, Ms Mamta Banerjee and the Tatas.
