About 3,000 defied curfew in north Kashmir
Baramulla, Aug 24 (UNI) About 3,000 people, including women, today defied the curfew restrictions and took to streets at Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said.
They said people took to streets immediately after repeated announcements were made that curfew had been imposed in the town as a precautionary measure.
Raising pro-freedom slogans, the processionists marched through different streets.
However, there was no report, so far, of any clash between the security forces and processionists, who were now sitting on the roads.
