JD (U)-BJP demand Lalu's removal in 'jobs for land' scam
New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) A joint delegation of BJP and Janata Dal (United) today demanded with the Prime Minister to remove Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and order an 'impartial probe' into 'jobs for land' scandal involving his family members.
The delegation consisting of JD(U) president Sharad Yadav, BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, JD(U) Bihar unit chief Rajiv Ranjan Singh and JD(U) General Secretary Shivanand Tiwari handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister drawing his attention as to how the Minister and his family members had misused the system to dole out jobs in return for lands from the beneficiaries.
Mr Naqvi said the Railway Minister, who was seeking to project himself as 'Management Guru', had turned out to be a 'corruption guru' and was facing half a dozen cases concerning the fodder scam.
The minister was not just satisfied with distributing jobs for lands but was also involved in the running of Railway hotels in return for the lands. Two RJD colleagues and Union Ministers Kanti Singh and Raghunath Jha were made to part with their properties as gifts in Bihar. ''Why the gifts were taken, Mr Prasad alone can tell but the rules required a public servant to justify why he took the gift,'' the leaders said. They also annexed the registered papers to substantiate their charges.
